Foreshadowing my artistic career, in first grade I produced
a work on split-usage paper, the top section showing a crayon drawing of me standing before an easel, painting a nude. The
lines at the bottom read: Wen I grow up I will be a painter and I
will like it vere much. Well, I have liked it very much, and I love graphic design, as well. Making images has been a life-long compulsion
for me, sort of wedged somewhere between breathing and eating.
I studied English Literature and Art at the University of Virginia, and received an MFA in painting from the University
of Georgia in the ever-happening town of Athens, where I also taught art classes at the university. After moving to New York
in 1996, I wrote art reviews and eventually landed in accessory design, where I began to hone my textile and graphic design
skills.
I live in the
Lower East Side of New York City with my husband and son Thomas. (who, just for the record, can draw like nobody's business!
) My very favorite projects are the ones where I get to use a bunch of different skills, but that being said, I'm happy doing
all kinds of creative work and gladly welcome discussion about any kind of projects.
